danschlagerDan is our Wyoming State Director and leads The Conservation Fund’s efforts across the state—helping landowners and partners achieve their land conservation goals.

With more than two decades of private and nonprofit land conservation transactional and conflict resolution experience, Dan has assisted a wide array of landowners, partners and investors achieve their conservation and economic objectives across the West and in Hawaii.  Prior to joining the Fund, Dan served as Founder and President of Conservation Solutions for 16 years.  Conservation Solutions is a private company that utilizes both private capital and public funds to craft unique and creative solutions that achieve land conservation goals while balancing economic outcomes.  In the 1990s, Dan directed land protection efforts in Wyoming for the nonprofit Jackson Hole Land Trust.  He has raised tens of millions of dollars in private investment dollars and public funds in helping to conserve more than 60,000 acres of critical lands.   

Dan holds an M.S. in Resource Conservation from the University of Montana School of Forestry, a J.D. from the Boston University School of Law, and a B.A. in Conflict Analysis and Communications from the University of Pennsylvania.  In his spare time, Dan enjoys sharing river and mountain adventures with family and friends, and coaching youth sports.
